The best small iPhone for one hand
Which iPhone is easiest to use with one hand? iPhone 17e ($699), on the figures below. What decides whether you can reach across a phone with your thumb is its width first, then its height, then how heavy it feels at the top of your hand. We rank every iPhone Apple sells on those three figures.

Our advice
What we'd buy.
- iPhone 17e is the easiest current iPhone to use one-handed, with iPhone 16 close behind. All three of the narrowest models are about 71.5 mm wide, the narrowest Apple makes today.
- Apple no longer sells a mini: iPhone 13 mini (64.2 mm wide) was the last. If one hand matters more than anything, a refurbished mini is still the smallest Face ID iPhone.
- iPhone Duo is short when folded but 84.1 mm wide, the widest iPhone, so it does not work one-handed.
