How big is iPhone 17, really?
Of the 34 iPhones on this site, iPhone 17 is the 18th smallest by the size of its front (149.6 × 71.5 mm), the 13th lightest at 177 g, and has the 15th largest screen at 6.3 inches. That puts it in the middle of the range, the size most iPhones have been since 2020.
Its 6.3-inch display is about 66.9 × 145.4 mm (worked out from the diagonal and its 2622 × 1206 pixel grid), so the screen covers roughly 91% of the front. The front camera and Face ID sensors sit in the Dynamic Island, a pill-shaped cut-out that also shows live activity. At 460 pixels per inch, individual pixels are not visible at a normal viewing distance.
Against iPhone 16 (2024), the model it followed, it is 2 mm taller and 7 g heavier, the chip moves from A18 to A19, and Apple's video playback rating rises from 22 to 30 hours. The screen also gains 120 Hz ProMotion.
iPhone 16 Pro shares its height and width to within 0.3 mm, so in the hand they feel almost the same size, even if cases are cut differently around the cameras and buttons.
