iPhone 18 Pro Repair Parts: What the $249 Camera Actually Costs

Apple's US self-service store now lists iPhone 18 Pro repair parts. We calculate camera and tool costs, return-credit conditions and what buyers should compare.

The US Self Service Repair Store now lists iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. That gives buyers planning to keep a phone for years a concrete parts channel to investigate. It does not mean a repair costs only the advertised price of one component, or that doing it yourself will be cheaper than professional service.

We checked the United States storefront on October 20, 2026. Selecting iPhone → iPhone 18 Pro → Camera showed a $249 camera, a $59.76 replaced-part return credit, and a $189.24 price after credit. A seven-day iPhone 18 Pro tool-kit rental was listed separately at $49. These are US listings for that model and repair selection; they are not a worldwide price list.

The camera price is only part of the bill

Our arithmetic below combines the camera with the listed rental option. It is a planning subtotal, not a complete repair quote.

Scenario for iPhone 18 Pro Calculation Camera plus rental subtotal
Before a return credit is approved $249 + $49 $298.00
After the listed credit is approved $249 − $59.76 + $49 $238.24
Camera alone after approved credit, if you already have suitable tools $249 − $59.76 $189.24

The camera selection also displayed separate supplies, including display adhesive, protective covers and screws. Which items you need depends on the procedure and what you already own. The subtotals above exclude additional supplies, taxes, any delivery charges, rental-related holds or charges, and your time. Do not treat $238.24 as an all-in checkout total.

Nor is the $59.76 an automatic discount at purchase. The store’s return instructions say to send replaced items back within 18 days of receiving the new order. Returned parts are inspected for credit eligibility; an approved credit goes to the original payment method. Budget for the pre-credit amount and check the current return conditions before ordering.

Who should factor this into a purchase?

For a technically experienced buyer choosing a phone to keep, accessible parts and instructions are useful ownership information. The US model selector lists both the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. For the smaller 18 Pro, the repair selector includes the battery, display, camera and back glass, alongside other components. We verified the camera prices above for the 18 Pro only; do not apply them to the Pro Max without selecting that exact model.

A parts listing is not a repairability score. We have not performed this repair, tested the tools or measured how long it takes. Review the official manual for your exact model and repair before deciding whether you have the equipment and experience. The store provides a manuals directory; a list of available parts does not establish that every fault can be fixed by replacing one of them.

If you are comparing the 18 Pro with the Pro Max, keep size, weight and the features you need at the center of the decision. Repair support is one ownership consideration, not evidence that the larger phone costs the same to maintain or that either model is the cheapest long-term choice.

Compare a full service quote before choosing DIY

For an existing owner with a camera problem, compare the complete self-service basket and rental conditions against a professional quote for the same diagnosed fault. Ask what the professional quote includes: labor, taxes, other required parts and the terms covering the completed repair. Check any applicable warranty or coverage before buying parts.

The useful comparison is complete cost versus complete cost. Comparing a $189.24 component after a conditional credit with a service price that includes labor would leave out part of the DIY cost. We have not obtained a matching professional quote, so these listings do not establish a saving.

For a new-phone buyer, this is a reason to investigate the ownership path rather than a reason to replace a working phone. See the 18 Pro model page and Pro Max model page for the broader specification comparison.

What this check does not establish

The US listings do not promise stock at the time you order, establish availability in other countries, or set future prices. They also do not answer how much an iPhone Duo repair would cost. The Duo was not in the US model selector we checked; that observation does not mean it has no professional repair options or will never receive self-service parts.

Recheck the exact country, model, part, manual and final basket before acting. The change here is a verifiable parts channel for the two Pro models, with a concrete cost example for the smaller Pro—not a guarantee of inexpensive repairs.
